I don’t know about you guys, but between wet felting and taking care of alpacas and chickens, my hands take a beating in the winter. Dry, cracked skin is not fun so I thought I’d share my favorite homemade hand scrub recipe.
Not only does this hand scrub exfoliate your skin, it nourishes and softens it at the same time. If you have chronic dry skin (like my hubby), try scrubbing your hands with the sugar scrub at bedtime and wear soft gloves overnight.

Homemade Hand Scrub Supplies:

– White sugar
– Olive Oil or Sweet Almond Oil
– Lemon Juice
– Lemon Extract or Lemon Essential Oil
– Sealable containers, I like to use Mason Jars
– Bowls, spoons, etc.
Mixing Your Homemade Hand Scrub:
This scrub recipe really doesn’t get any easier. All you need is one bowl and some spoons.
In a bowl, mix together 2 1/2 cups of white sugar, 2/3 cup oil, 2 Tablespoons lemon juice and 1 Tablespoon lemon extract or essential oil. Stir it all up. If the sugar scrub is too dry for you, go ahead and add a bit more oil. If the scrub is too wet, add some more of the sugar.
Finish Your Sugar Scrub:
When your scrub has the right consistency, all you have to do is spoon it into your mason jar or other sealable container and add a pretty ribbon.
