Decorating Easter eggs has always been one of my all-time favorite holiday crafts. I especially have fond memories of dyeing Easter eggs with my kids.
We always made a big craft day of it with the various dye kits and also marble dyeing with onion skins (the way my German Grandmother taught me!)
But, thankfully we are not limited to using just the old dye tabs anymore. Now, there are now so, so many other creative and fun ways to decorate your Easter Eggs!
You can print on them with silk ties, marble them, decoupage them, tattoo them and even dye the eggs with shaving cream. What? Shaving cream? Yes!

How do you prepare eggs for decorating?
To prepare real eggs, you will need to boil them before decorating:
Place them in a pot with cold water. Bring to a boil and then turn the stove down to an easy simmer for about 12 to 15 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and allow the eggs to cool completely.
If you are planning to dye your eggs with natural plant materials, you will normally start with raw eggs and then boil them with the dye.
