Well, for one, they work up very quickly so you get a fast, finished accessory and you don’t have a chance to get bored and lose motivation.
Also, when crocheting a smaller project such as an earwarmer, you have the opportunity to practice not just simple stitches but more involved, complicated ones as well and without the daunting task of making a large sweater or afghan.
The following free crochet headband patterns are made with a variety of stitches from regular single or double crochet to more intermediate and advanced herringbone and bead stitches.

One cool thing about crocheting a headband is that you can really customize it to your liking. If you prefer wider bands, add some more rows.
Also, if you like to wear them in the warmer, Summer months, simply swap out the heavier wools for a lightweight or even lacy yarn.
Plus, you can have some fun with the closure or embellishments, too. Crocheted flowers are pretty popular accents for headbands as are buttons and of course, the Twist.
And don’t feel like you have to follow each pattern to a tee. Go ahead and combine some elements of the various patterns and make up your own!
Before I forget, I would like to say a great big THANK YOU to the wonderful pattern designers for allowing me to share their headbands with you.
I hope you will try some of these fun projects and please come back and give me some feedback!
Enjoy!
